UI design for scheduling tools

When we started designing the scheduler UI, the first question was: how to display the publishing queue — as a calendar or as a list?

Both approaches make sense depending on how a person thinks about their work. An editor with a long planning horizon wants a calendar. Someone managing an operational daily queue wants a list.

We tried both with real users and concluded that the right answer is "both." Not because we can't decide, but because the usage contexts are genuinely different.

This influenced how we think about UI architecture overall.
